It’s not only lovers of showjumping blood who will find what they are looking for in the ‘Roshoeve’ stallion stable. Dressage blood is also present, thanks to the black pearl, Hero. His sire, Johnson (ex Verdi V), combines in his pedigree Jazz and Flemmingh, two stallions who enjoy a very good reputation in the international dressage world. In partnership with Tineke Bartels, Jazz performed at Grand Prix level. Flemmingh became famous as the sire of Grand Prix dressage horses, such as Krack C (Anky van Grunsven) and Lingh (Edward Gal). Via his dam, Johnson belongs to the well-known line of Reina. Johnson impressed as a youngster during his approval as a stallion, not only in Oldenburg but also in the KWPN, where he was crowned as ‘dressage champion’ in 2005. Under the saddle of Hans Peter Minderhoud, Johnson (sporting name: Glock’s Johnson TN N.O.P.) made a furore. His performances in Grand Prix dressage classes during international four- and five-star tournaments were often granted with victories or honourable placings. The Johnson-Minderhoud duo also obtained nice results during the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014.

Also in Hero’s dam line we find a progenitor of dressage horses, namely Ferro, number seven in the 2015 WBFSH dressage sire ranking. Hero’s grandmother, Baranka, is a daughter of Ramiro, a Raimond son who is known as a supplier of showjumping horses. In combination with Jasper, Baranka gave birth to Garanco in 1988. Three years later, Garanco was approved as a stallion with KWPN. Baranka not only produced an approved stallion, but also several dressage horses, such as Aranco V, Ravel V, Iranco and Laronca. Baranka is also the grandmother of Varanka, a Gran Corrado daughter who performed at 1m50 to 1m60 level in international five-star tournaments, including Leipzig, Hickstead, Rotterdam and ‘s-Hertogenbosch, in partnership with Timothy Hendrix.
